Wow that's so powerful. The density of the prose reminds me a little bit of Cormac McCarthy's style in the best way. I feel like there's enough depth here that you'd get something new with every reread.
I appreciate the patience! It's definitely one of my most obtuse. I worry about talking about my own stories as I often don't agree with myself. But metonymy is identifying the whole by the part. We see that literally in the beginning. "The suit" is the man, etcetera. He's middle aged and regretting what he's lost and considering if it's worth going on, and going to the river, he remembers what it was to still have a family but also the life he was responsible for ending... and right now, I'm in a taxi in Dubrovnik and can't remember how it ends.
I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while. Good work
Thank you

I can think of no higher praise than to have McCarthy mentioned in connection to my prose. Thank you.
This is one story that definitely takes patience to unwrap.
I almost fell like I should apologize for being so obtuse. Lol
So many layers!
I've tried reading this like 3 times and I have no idea what it's about
