You called it about "The Simpsons". Trying to watch the current version vis-a-vis the good old days is like watching an old vaudevillian stumbling their way through an old routine that used to kill audiences but now just makes them feel uncomfortable.
Thaddeus, thanks for this post. It certainly gives me something to think about. I've already begun my own serialized fictional memoir, and I will admit that the format is not ideal. But my project was always about bringing readers along with me as I dive through old memories in an effort to heal and understand my mental illness further. The project was always an experiment with telling a story on Substack. You make valid points though, thanks again!
